The West Carleton Electric topped the Stittsville 56ers 8-1 in 5 innings in GOFL action in Fitzroy Harbour on Friday night.Andy Barber had the win for the 'Trics while Adam Smith took the loss with relief from Darren Featherstone.
Stittsville scored in the top of the second. Scott Jessiman doubled to lead off the inning, moved to third on a ground ball, then scored when Fitzroy attempted to double him off third on a line drive but the throw was errant.
The Electric got the board in the bottom of the third. Mitch Taylor led off with a single. Jon Daley then dropped a sac bunt and reached on an error. Derek Barber's single tied things at one apice. Andy Barber then helped his cause with a three run homer to put the home team up 4-1.
Fitzroy scored another two in the fourth. Shawn Ryan was hit by a pitch, then brought in when Taylor hit a two run home run, after which Featherstone came in on relief of Smith.
The game ended in the bottom of the fifth on the run rule. Jeff Cavanagh legged out an infield single but was subsequent put out when Beef Johnson reached on a fielder's choice. Steve Cavanagh then also reached on an infield single. After a strikeout, Mitch Taylor's double then cashed both runs to end the game.
